Anxiety ====> Excitement
Right now we all are into this pandemic, cause of which we all are somehow anxious about what's going to come after this, How we'll begin again after all this comes down. Somewhere in our life we would have experienced anxiety and would have ended up doing different types of activity and following different suggestions and still not getting the right solutions. So in today's topic, I'll be sharing my thoughts on "How to change your anxiety into excitement?".
What happens inside you?
When you feel anxious this is exactly what happens; your heartbeat becomes faster, you go from a resting phase to an outburst of thoughts, because anxiety comes from thoughts, Your stress hormone runs throughout your body and burst out. During this state, your body prepares for a fight with your thoughts and its fighters are "cortisol and adrenaline" which helps your body to fight with anxiety
in other words, your body is putting you into run or fight situation, your body is ready to throw down.
It's not just anxiety its a mixture of happiness, excitement or it can be sexual desire. Anxiety and excitement both make your heart beat faster, but the main difference comes on what your brain is thinking, what thoughts are arousing in your mind.
According to a Research
In research done on a group of students, they were given a task to speak on stage. They were divided into 2 groups and were said to do the following-
Group 1 - Before getting on the stage they were asked to say "I am excited for this speech" and were told to repeat it a couple of times.
Group 2 - They were not asked to say anything and were told to just go and prepare for the speech.
I know you would've predicted the outcome of the research -
Yes, The students from Group 1 performed more confidently and fiercely and got seriously excited for performing rather getting anxious to win or how am I going to perform or what will be the result
Like the students from group 2, many people in this world feel way more anxious and get a sort of "Anxiety attacks". During this, they don't what to do because then their thoughts are controlling them instead of this they should be the ones controlling their thoughts. So you might be looking for the answers on how to change anxiety into excitement.
What to do?
- Try to breathe the cleanest air possible, because according to EPA( Environmental Protection Agency, USA). The air indoors is 5 times unhealthier than outdoors, so whenever you get in this kind of state go out ( it could be your gallery, parks, anything where you could get fresh air).
- Stand in front of a mirror and now you're seeing 70 trillion cells of yours which can be in your control but are in control of your thoughts. So you are in control of how those 70 trillion behave.
- When you are in a state of anxiety, get yourself some room, have a seat, and say these three magical words " I am Excited" and repeat it 100 times, believe me, you'll feel relieved.
- Think of " what I can be excited about". Do it for about 5 minutes, think of the thing you are excited about and tell your 70 trillion cells how to behave in this situation.
- Have a glass of chill water and do breathing exercises, take in control of your breathing.
- One more thing you can do is have a person who can make you laugh at that time can make you more comfortable in that situation.
- You can do exercises like push-ups, squats, burpees, pull-ups or it can be walking also. The exercises will help you in channelizing your thought process and releasing anxiety.
- If eating good food helps you in comforting, then go for it
What not to do?
- Never consume "caffeine and Aerated Drinks". This going to increase your problem rather than solving it.
- Never engage yourself in debates and discussions.
- Stop questioning yourself.
- Stop telling everyone around, try to have some friends who can make you chill out rather than making the situation worse for you.
- As I've mentioned eating your favorite food, don't overeat that is bad too for your health.
